Local 12 Features Unsung Hero Event

By John Bach

I was honored this week to get a few minutes on Local 12 to talk about our journey through breast cancer. Julie nominated me as an Unsung Hero in Cancer Family Care’s caregiver category. I’m looking forward to the Unsung Hero dinner at the Netherland Plaza with Julie, Greta, Georgia, Josie, Logan and Ukiah on May 3.

There’s no doubt who the true heroes are in all of this — Julie, for her amazing fight, and the incredible doctors, nurses and specialists at UC Health. Huge thanks also to Jill Settlemyer, executive director of Cancer Family Care, and their exceptional team who have helped Julie along her path toward healing.

Julie has a long way to go and a series of surgeries in her future, but it is great to pause and celebrate her progress.

Watch the full Local 12 “What’s Happening in Health” show from April 24. Thanks to health reporter and host Liz Bonis for all her efforts to shed light on important healthcare stories in Cincinnati.

Support the wonderful work of Cancer Family Care.
